Salom Earns Philips Sustainability Gold Award for 4th Year Running
Salom is honored to have been recognized by Philips for our sustainability progress in 2024. We received our 4th straight Gold Award for Sustainability Improvement, a credit to our team’s consistent and focused commitment to our ESG initiatives.
Philips is a world-leading health technology company committed to making the world healthier through meaningful innovation, an ambitious goal to improve the lives of over 3 billion people by 2030. To help support this, they created the ‘Supplier Sustainability Performance Program’ (SSP), which involves a structured collaboration and continuous improvement process measured against an array of sustainability parameters alongside standard auditing practices. Philips Supplier Sustainability is an approach that ensures Philips and its suppliers move collectively towards the goals of a healthier and more sustainable world.
As a key supplier and long-term partner of Philips, Salom has been a part of the SSP Program since its launch in January 2017. Philips began recognizing suppliers for Sustainability Improvement in 2020. Thanks to our outstanding practices in sustainable development, Salom has now won the program’s Supplier Sustainable Performance Gold Award four times between 2020 and 2024 (2021 was not audited due to pandemic limitations).
The partnership with Philips has been an important catalyst for Salom’s commitment to sustainable operations. As a family-owned company, Salom has always appreciated the value of a clean environment, but over time we have realized the urgency of a company-wide focus on responsible manufacturing and applied many tangible improvements to our processes.
Looking back at the five-year collaboration (4 audited years), Salom not only actively participated in relevant training sessions and meetings organized by Philips each year to absorb cutting-edge concepts and practical experience but also used this as an opportunity to achieve structural upgrading and systematic optimization of its own sustainable development efforts. In the process, Salom has actively driven its tier-one suppliers to improve their sustainability performance in four key dimensions: environmental protection, health and safety, business ethics, and labor rights. It has also joined hands with major suppliers to advance greenhouse gas emission reduction and removal actions—covering critical areas such as waste management, energy optimization, and water conservation. By clarifying greenhouse gas accounting boundaries, quantifying management processes, and setting phased targets, Salom continues to implement emission reduction and carbon reduction measures, laying a solid foundation for achieving global net-zero goals. In 2023, Salom formally initiated a Carbon Reduction Plan with a goal to reduce emissions over the next 3 years. This year, Salom further participated in the human rights assessment training and review under Philips’ SSP program. This initiative helps enterprises identify human rights risks and improvement opportunities in operations, clarify human rights strategic goals, and focus resources on key areas to enhance the efficiency of sustainable development management.

Salom’s sustainability journey is far from complete, but we remain steadfast in our commitment to continuous improvement. If you are looking for a power supply partner to help you reach your sustainability goals, we’d love to discuss your project.
